Person-to-Person
The life of Christian faith is all about our relationship: our relationship with God, one another, and the world God has called us to serve. Prayer is the bridge that builds that relationship. In prayer, God meets us where we are and summons us to the new life. And there we begin to see that everything we are and do receives enduring meaning and glory from the God who made us for the divine purpose.
person-to-Person is a rich reflection on prayer designed to nurture and challenge us to know and embody the will of God. Mack B. Stokes, born and raised by missionary parents in Korea, is a highly acclaimed preacher, teacher, episcopal leader, professor, and writer. He received degrees from Asbury College, Duke Divinity School, and his Ph.D. from Boston University before serving on the faculty of Candler School of Theology, Emory University and as a bishop in the United Methodist Church.
Each chapter ends with a few Questions for Reflection and a “person-to-Person Connection.” The questions will help you in your personal study to dig a bit deeper in your own review of prayer, or the questions can help you teach the book to your class, bible study group or small group. The “person-to-Person Connection is a help to you to begin applying what you are learning about prayer to your personal prayer life.
